Tornadoes Cause Big Rig Crashes In Ellis County

Texas is no stranger to strong storms and tornadoes. Driving through these kinds of storms is extremely dangerous, yet many truck drivers risk it to make sure our supply chains keep going.

Last night in Ellis County, a tornado touched down according to CBS in Dallas-Fort Worth. A storm chaser from the station was reporting on the storm when he came across a big-rig crash on I-35 East near Waxahachie.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw a tornado cross the interstate. The blast of wind threw several cars into a field next to the interstate, and at least two semi-trucks had rolled over from the wind gusts. One of the truckers was injured and trapped in his vehicle. The storm chaser was able to comfort him while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

I-35 was shut down so the cleanup could continue. Tornadoes also struck many other Texas counties during the huge storm.

Sometimes you have no choice, but if you can choose to stay home when there is a tornado warning, please do so. The winds of a tornado are so fast that no amount of driving skill can keep you completely safe from their fury. Even trained storm chasers have trouble staying out of danger.
