Pedestrian Killed In Denton’s First Fatal Crash Of 2021

The Denton Police Department has reported the first fatal crash of 2021. Last Saturday night, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at the 900 block of West University Drive. The incident happened at about 9:20 p.m., according to this report from Denton Record-Chronicle.

Multiple bystanders reported the crash to the police. The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian also stopped and cooperated with the authorities. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

It’s wonderful to think that Denton has been able to go more than a month without a fatal accident on the road. It seems that car crashes are increasing in both frequency as well as severity. But, as we all work to drive with increased awareness and caution, we can help prevent such unfortunate accidents.

Of course, even one life lost on the road is too many. And these kinds of incidents can have long-lasting consequences. The families of victims are left grieving for years to come. The driver of such an accident may face criminal charges. Even if it is deemed an unforeseeable accident, those involved may face emotional trauma for years to come. It’s refreshing to hear of someone involved in an accident like this one stopping and cooperating. All too many flee the scene, making things worse for themselves and others.
