Accident Report Turns Out To Be Incorrect
What was originally reported as a hit and run crash involving two motorcycle officers, investigators are now saying that isn’t the case.
In a news story which appeared on the CBS local station in Dallas, officials now say that the accident that happened on January 15 at approximately 10:45 AM on State Highway 161 was incorrectly reported by another motorist.
Irving police recently surveillance video which shows that the two officers had pulled over two separate violators on the road. Upon leaving the scene at Highway 161, located just south of Highway 183, the two officers collided with each other, sending their motorcycles and debris into the roadway. Both officers are expected to be ok.
Irving Police Department spokesman, James McLellan said in a statement that the footage along with interviews with the two officers revealed that there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. One motorist, a man in a black sedan, stopped his vehicle to look at the wreckage then got back in and drove away. He was originally being sought as a potential hit and run suspect. Upon review, police are now saying that while the man is no longer a suspect, he could be a witness to details of the crash.
