The body of a motorcyclist reported missing by family members on Friday was found by Irving Police officers on Saturday.

NBC in Dallas Fort Worth reports that the fatal crash involving a motorcyclist happened in the southbound lanes of State Highway 161 near State Highway 183.

A spokesperson for the Irving Police Department said that the motorcycle crash happened early on Friday morning. No one appears to have witnessed the accident.  Officers received a call of a “traffic hazard” on the flyover along the 161 at approximately 2:51 a.m. that morning.

Officers located a crashed motorcycle but found no rider. They assumed that the rider had left the scene before they arrived.

Officers returned to the scene on Saturday at approximately 1:00 p.m. after receiving a missing persons report from the Richardson Police Department. It was then that they discovered the body of the male motorcyclist some 25 feet below the flyover.  He was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities have identified the man as 46-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez Gonzales of Joshua.  So far, police do not know what caused the accident or if any other vehicles were involved in the fatal crash.

The Irving Police Department is asking anyone with any information to contact them on their non-emergency line at (972)273-1010. or call Crime Stoppers at (972)721-TIPS.
