One Person Dies In Hit-And-Run Crash; Driver Still At Large

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), Texas has been consistently in the top 10 states where hit-and-run accidents and deaths occur.  In 2018, AAA reported over 682,000 crashes happen annually within the state of Texas.

NBCDFW has sadly reported that one more tragedy will be added to this year’s total. Frisco Police said in a statement that a hit-and-run crash between three vehicles had left one person dead on Saturday night.

Authorities say that the accident happened at approximately 12:15 a.m. when a Ford pickup truck blew through a red light at the intersection of Preston Road and Rolater Road. As the pickup truck driver was turning to head southbound on Preston Road, he struck a black BMW sedan and a silver Kia SUV.

The pickup truck driver did not stop, nor did they attempt to render aid to victims after the crash.

The force of the impact caused a passenger in the rear of the Kia to be ejected from the vehicle. They were transported to an area hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.   Officials had not released the identity or any other information about the crash victim at the time of the report.

The driver of the Kia was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries while the BMW driver was treated and released at the scene.

The Frisco Police Department asks anyone with any information about the crash to contact them at (972)  292-6010.  Witnesses may also send an anonymous text to “FRISCOPD” with the tip 847411.
