An accident involving a big rig with tandem trailers has shut down of Interstate 30 in Dallas. The overturned 18-wheeler has left one person dead and others injured.

CBS Local station, KTVT  in Dallas Fort-Worth, reports that the accident happened at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25th, when the big rig was hauling two trailers overturned in the westbound lanes.  At least one of the trailers was torn open, and the contents inside spilled on the roadway.

In a statement to reporters, a spokesperson for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said that at least two people were injured in the crash.  One of the crash victims has reportedly died at the scene due to the injuries they suffered in the accident.  Officials had not released their identity at the time of the report.

The second crash victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident.  No further information was available about their identity or current condition.

Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies have closed down all westbound lanes of Interstate 30 between Dallas and Fort Worth.  The shutdown includes the area between Westmoreland Road and Cockrell Hill.  Traffic is being redirected around the accident while crews investigate the scene, clear the wreckage from the road, and upright the 18-wheeler.

Authorities have not said what may have caused the accident or whether any other vehicles may have been involved.

The crash is currently under investigation.
