Street Racer Avoids Prison Sentence Despite Fatal Crash

A Texas street racer involved in a crash that killed two boys has managed to avoid a prison sentence. The Star-Telegram reports.

Back in 2018, two young men were racing on Cedar Park Road in the early afternoon. One of the vehicles crashed into an SUV that was carrying three people. A 1-year-old and an 8-year-old were both killed in the collision.

The other racer, who witnesses say started the race by revving his engine at a light, pleaded guilty to racing and was sentenced to 10 years of probation, along with a 60-day jail sentence and then three days each year on the next 10 anniversaries of the crash. His license was also suspended for a year.

However, the driver of the car that crashed was was sentenced last year to seven years in prison. The family believes that the sentence was not enough.

If a criminal sentence isn’t strong enough for a victim’s liking, it is sometimes possible to receive additional compensation from the civil court system. Violent crimes and crimes involving injuries can be eligible, but only a personal injury attorney can advise you on your case.
