Texas Woman Charged With Fatal Crash In Florida

A woman from McKinney, Texas, has been charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicle homicide, and DUI with serious bodily injury after a crash in Escambia County, Florida. Pensacola News Journal reported on the matter.

According to the report, the woman was driving on I-10 East going in the wrong direction in the wee hours of the morning. She collided with a vehicle head-on despite attempts by the second driver to swerve. They were struck on the front left corner. The driver of the second car was killed at the scene. His passenger sustained serious injuries and went to a local hospital.

The driver is currently held without bond. No BAC level was given in the report.

Did you know that you can still be convicted of drunk driving even if a test shows you’re below the legal limit? Going beyond the limit is hard evidence, but if you drive in a reckless manner consistent with DUI and you have alcohol in your system you can still be charged.

Many wrong-way accidents happen because of drunken driving, especially on interstates. Interstates have large warnings and highway designs that discourage drivers from turning the wrong way. But with enough alcohol, judgement can leave the window and make a driver ignore those strange bumps when they go over a curve.

We would like to remind all readers to never drink and drive.
