Four Cars Involved In Deadly Pedestrian Crash Near Garland

Pedestrians aren’t allowed on freeways for good reason. Cars aren’t expecting it. Even if you’re on the shoulder, you’re vulnerable to a crash. That’s what happened on the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway near Garland. WFAA reports.

The crash happened north of Centerville Road. Two cars were speeding on the road when one of them struck another vehicle. The car that was hit was pushed into the right shoulder and hit a pedestrian. He was killed at the scene.

The driver at the car who started the crash stayed at the scene. Officers believed that the man was impaired and arrested him for intoxication manslaughter and weapons charges.  None of the people in the other vehicles were treated for injuries in the crash. Four vehicles were invovled in all.

We don’t know why the pedestrian was on the road. Maybe their car broke down. Maybe they were there illegally. Regardless, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Breaking the laws complicates questions about compensation. Even if you were injured by someone else, you could take on some or even all of the liability. A simple example is a hit-and-run crash. If you leave the scene then fault will almost always transfer to you automatically.
