A Teenager Is Dead After Being Hit By A Car In A Hit-And-Run Accident

To lose a child in an accident is a tragedy that no parent should ever have to face. Realizing that a driver hit a child with their vehicle and then callously drove away is unimaginable.

According to a story appearing on the CBS Local station in Dallas – Fort Worth,  that is what the family of 16-year-old Tre Allison was faced with after a driver hit him on Monday, June 8th, and fled the scene.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Allison, who was a student at Burelson High School, was riding with a friend in an Acura southbound on John Jones Drive in the 7000 block when the driver of a northbound attempting a left turn onto Tarpon Street crashed into their vehicle.

Investigators say that the driver fled the scene of the crash without stopping to render aid.

Allison was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Burleson Police officers pulled the suspect, 29-year-old Eric Padilla, over a short distance away from the crash and performed a series of field sobriety tests.  Padilla showed no signs of impairment.

Police placed Padilla under arrest on the charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury or death. The charge is considered a second-degree felony and is punishable by up to 10 years in state prison.

The unidentified driver of the Acura, a graduate of  Burelson High School, was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. He was later released.

Padilla is awaiting trial in the Johnson County Jail on a bond of $250,000.
