Motorcycle Crashes Into Pickup On South Texas 360

Following distance is important for safety and the more exposed you are, the more you need to add to it. Motorcycle riders who follow too closely put their lives at risk. One sadly lost his life recently in Arlington. The Star-Telegram reports.

A man and a woman were  riding on a motorcycle on South Texas 360 near Pioneer Parkway last Thursday in the evening hours. Traffic was slowing down on the road due to construction ahead, but the riders did not notice. The motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup truck.

The driver of the motorcycle died from the crash. His passenger suffered critical injuries. No one else was injured. The report did not say if the couple were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, nor how fast they were going when they hit the pickup.

Police are investigating the crash to see what happened. There could be a number of reasons for the crash, including intoxication, inattentiveness, speed, or even mechanical failure. Avoiding this crash may have been just a matter of adding more distance between the vehicles.

We encourage all motorcycle riders to wear full safety gear, go to motorcycle school, and take great care on the roads. If you get in a crash on a bike, you’re at a much greater risk for injury and death in an accident. Use caution.
