Pickup Catches Fire In Southeast Dallas Collision

We’ve seen a report of a car crash in Southeast Dallas that caused a pickup truck to burst into flames. NBC reported on the accident.

Not many details were released about this incident. Police say the crash happened in the evening along Lake June Road near Holcomb road. Two vehicles were involved, including a pickup truck that caught fire from the collision.

Several people were injured from the crash, but the police did not give NBC details about how many people were hurt or how badly they were hurt. They also didn’t speculate on how the crash happened.

Fires in crashes are rare thanks to better safety designs. Several decades ago, a crash from the right angle could make the gas in a tank leak and explode. Today’s tanks and valves are much better at containing gas after a crash. But it can still happen.

There’s also the possibility that there was a gas canister in the bed of the pickup truck. Sparks and heat from the collision could have ignited that fuel and caused it to spread.

While it is rare, it is also a serious danger. There are plenty of things in a car that can burn and the heat could make it impossible to escape. Smoke inhalation can also kill. If you are caught in a car fire, do your best to get out as soon as you can.
