A Mother And Her Two Daughters Were Killed In A Highway Crash

A deadly crash along Interstate 35E in Dallas took the life of a mother and her two adult daughters last week.

The Dallas News reported that the fatal crash happened at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30th.

According to a statement issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, dispatchers received a call of a stalled vehicle in the southbound lanes Interstate 35 near South Marsalis Avenue. By the time that sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, a Ford F350 pickup truck crashed into the stalled vehicle.

The three women had been waiting for help inside their stalled vehicle when they were unexpectedly hit by the pickup truck. Sadly, the deputies pronounced two of the women dead at the scene while the third woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.  Hospital officials declared the third woman had died at approximately 5:38 a.m.

Authorities have identified the victims as Juanita Navaro, 79, who was the driver of the vehicle, and her daughters, 50-year-old Ana Marie Hernandez, and 51-year-old Norma Cruz Gomez.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department statement also indicated that there were additional people injured in the crash, but did not say how many or the extent of their injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene of the fatal crash and was in full cooperation with deputies investigating the accident.

The accident is still currently under investigation. So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
