Police Capture A Driver After A Police Chase Through Three Cities

According to the U.S.  National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), thousands of people have lost their lives as the result of police pursuits since the agency began tracking the figure in 1979. Many of the lives lost were those who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Since then, many law enforcement agencies have initiated policies that require officers to break off pursuit if the risk of an accident is too high.

Thankfully, it appears that no one was hurt in a recent police chase incident that happened last week. NBC Dallas Fort Worth reported on its website that a suspect in a dark-colored Chevy Malibu led Dallas Police officers on a chase that went through three separate cities.

In a statement issued by the Dallas Police Department, the incident began in Southwest Dallas on Wednesday, April 8th, at approximately 3:30 p.m. A spokesperson said that officers observed the suspect driver not stopping or yielding the right of way at a stop sign.  When officers attempted to pull over the suspect vehicle, the driver fled instead.

Officers drove in pursuit of the vehicle with the chase going from Southwest Dallas to Northwest Dallas, through Irving, and finally ending in Grand Prairie.  A police helicopter was also used during the pursuit of the suspect vehicle.

Police say that the pursuit ended when the driver turned his car into an alley near Southhampton at 2231 West Ledbetter Street and was blocked on both ends of the alleyway by police.

No further information about the incident has been released.
