Five Vehicle Accident, Including Amazon Truck, Kills Two On Highway Near Houston

Two women died in a crash on Houston’s North Freeway in a chain-reaction crash thanks to wet roads. CBS reported on the incident.

The crash happened soon after midnight on Friday. An SUV pulled over after it got a flat tire. While they were stopped, another car crashed into them. One woman from each car got out to discuss the matter.

Then a pickup truck came through and crashed into a wall to avoid the wreck that was there. A fourth vehicle stopped to render aid.

As if that wasn’t the worst of it, an Amazon tractor-trailer then hit all four cars at the scene and killed the two women. A man from one of the stopped vehicles dove off the overpass and fell about 10 feet. He suffered minor injuries. Two children also received minor injuries from the impact.

The police said that the roads were slick at the time due to light rain, but this is still a pretty extreme accident. Stopped on a freeway in the middle of the night when it’s raining is a good recipe for making your car hard to see, especially if damage to the vehicles disabled the lights.

If you drive out at night frequently, you may want to invest in reflective triangles or road flares. These devices are much more difficult to miss and may keep drivers from hitting you.
