Lime Suspends Service Thanks To Coronavirus

Scooters in cities have received a lot of negative attention lately. Crashes are common because of the lack of safety equipment and inadequate training by ride share companies on how to use them safely. Many of the crashes involve head injuries, and there have been some fatalities.

Now, at least one scooter company has suspended operations because of the coronavirus outbreak. NBC 5 announced that Lime is pausing service in the entire US to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of the virus.

Lime has been facing a lot of trouble this year from the accidents and the lack of profitability of their business model, but there are other companies out there like Bird, Jump, and Spin, who offer the scooters.

If you are using ride share equipment during the outbreak, consider wiping down the handles before and after use in case you are contagious. Carry around a small pack of sanitizing wipes. It is also a good idea to wear gloves before using the scooter and washing your hands afterward.

Some scooter companies, like Bird, are also doing deep cleans on their equipment when they can to keep the spread of the virus down and do their part. Some people still need to use these scooters to get food or medications.
