Two High School Students Hit By Pickup Driver, Two Broken Legs

Most parents send their children to school each day with the hopes that they will arrive at and from their destination safely. When an accident happens while their child during their commute or during the school day,  it can turn into a parent’s worst nightmare.

CBS Local in Dallas-Fort Worth reports that two McKinney high school students were taken to the hospital last week after being struck by the driver of a pickup truck as they were headed to school.

A spokesperson for the McKinney Police Department said that the crash happened near the intersection of McDonald and Elm Street at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7th, when the two teens were attempting to cross the street.

One student that was hit was 16 years of age, and the other was 14 years of age. Both teens were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. One teen suffered a broken femur while the other teen suffered a broken leg in the crash.

Their identities and current condition have not been released.

Police say that the driver, whose identity was also not released, remained at the scene of the crash. It is unlikely that the driver will face charges in connection to the accident.
