    Stillborn Baby Delivered After Red Light Crash

    A crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Sunday, August 4th has resulted in several people being seriously injured and a teen mother giving birth to a stillborn baby.

    The CBS Local station in Dallas – Fort Worth reports that the accident happened in Grand Prairie in the northbound lanes of Great Southwest Parkway at approximately 7:30 p.m.

    Authorities say that the driver of a Mitsubishi Galant blew through a red light at the intersection of Great Southwest Parkway and Sherman Street, hitting a Dodge pickup truck.

    There were four people inside the pickup truck. Three were seriously injured including an elderly couple and a 23-year-old male driver. One of the passengers in the pickup truck, a 73-year-old man, was transported to the hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.

    The 23-year-old driver and 70-year-old woman were treated and later released from the hospital.

    A 31-year-old male passenger who was in the Mitsubishi as a passenger was uninjured in the crash.

    A 16-year-old woman was riding in the Hyundai at the time. She was taken to the hospital, where she gave birth to a baby girl. The infant was stillborn as the result of injuries sustained in the crash.

    Police say that the driver of the Galant was unlicensed at the time of the crash. He has been identified as Frank Anthony Alvarez, 17, of Dallas. Police officers responding to the crash determined that Alvarez had been driving under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest.

    Alvarez is currently facing multiple charges injury to a child, including intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault, two counts of injury to an elderly person, as well as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
