Police Find Break In Increased Motorcycle Thefts

After a police chase with a U-Haul truck in Dallas County, authorities believe they may have gotten a break in an ongoing case involving the theft of motorcycles and four-wheelers in the area.

The CBS Local affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth reports that on the morning of Thursday, April 25th, Dallas Police officers began chasing a U-Haul coming from a motel located in northeast Dallas. The pursuit continued into Garland with officers from the Mesquite and Garland Police Departments along with deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department lending assistance.

Law enforcement officers brought the chase to an end near the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard and Elsie Faye Heggins Street in south Dallas. Four men were arrested at the scene.

Upon inspection, three motorcycles and a four-wheeler were found inside the cargo area of the U-Haul. Police believe that all of the vehicles were stolen from dealerships in the Houston area.

Authorities say that this latest incident is similar to another police chase on April 9th which also involved a U-Haul. In the earlier police chase, the suspects abandoned the rental truck in a creek bed. Police apprehended one of four suspects in the case and placed him under arrest.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects in either case. Both incidents are still currently under investigation.
