If you’ve ever wondered what the most dangerous intersections in the Fort Worth area are, soon a traffic safety task force will have the answer for you.
According to Matt Zavadsky of MedStar, the Intersection of Weatherford and Henderson Street has the highest number of car crashes that result in injuries over the last three years.
First responders to accidents in the area report that there have been more than two dozen crashes that have occurred there – sometimes more than once in a day.
“While the police were clearing one accident, “said Hassan Jawad who works near the intersection,” maybe after 20 or 30 minutes, said another accident happened at the same spot!”
A traffic safety task force, which is being led by Zavadsky, reports to a Fort Worth Coalition is compiling a list of the most dangerous areas for drivers in the city. The effort is an attempt to keep motorists safer.
The task far has determined that the worst area for injury accidents is a stretch of eastbound I-30 at East Chase Parkway. A short exit ramp is being cited as being part of the issue. Fixing that particular issue, however, is the responsibility of the state of Texas to address.
The city of Fort Worth, however, will have its fair share of hazardous traffic situations that it can fix such as the intersections at Rosedale and University. Drivers and pedestrians alike find the area confusing and pedestrians and bicyclists are at risk of being struck by other vehicles when attempting to cross the intersection.
Once the task force completes its findings for the traffic areas that are in most need of safety improvements, it will then brainstorm with city officials in order to come up with solutions.
