    New Charges in Triple-Fatality Accident

    Empty city center

An illegal immigrant who is accused of having caused a triple-fatality accident near Wylie a couple of weeks ago has had an additional charge filed against him by a federal judge.

Law enforcement officials say that Margarito Quintero, who is already facing a state charge for the March 31st accident that killed a Nevada Firefighter and his two kids, is now facing a federal charge in connection with the accident.

A Sherman federal court filed complaint says that Quintero was illegally in the country when he was behind the wheel of a van that crossed Highway 78 causing the head-on accident that killed one adult and two children. At the time of the accident, the Department of Public Safety Records indicates that Quintero did not have a valid driver’s license when the fatal accident occurred.

Congressman John Ratcliffe of North Texas wanted to ensure that Quintero was not released from jail, only to flee the country before a scheduled trial date.

Ratcliffe said that upon learning of the accident immediately contacted the Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, as well as the ICE Director, Sara Saldana, requesting that the federal agency immediately place a detainer on Quintero.

Records indicate that Quintero had been deported once before in 2008, but is now illegally back in the United States.
