Dallas Teacher in Huge Trouble after Injuring Child on Tape

    dallas-teacher-in-huge-trouble-after-injuring-child-on-tape

A Dallas Independent School District teacher has been arrested and charged with bodily injury to a child. Last Wednesday, Joshua Flores, 12, a student at Thomas Edison Middle school said that teacher, Javier Valladarez, kneed him in the back twice and choked him after asking friends for a piece of paper during class.

Flores said the teacher grabbed him, put him in a headlock and dragged him into an office and threw him into a wall. The incident was enough, Flores said, to bring him to tears. Flores said he was leaving his mother a voice-mail when Valladarez grabbed his phone and put it in his pocket. At least a portion of the message actually made it through to his mother.

DISD officials say that there is surveillance video of the incident and that the district is currently reviewing it. Valladarez was released from jail on bond and faces potential suspension or even termination.

School districts have the responsibility to safeguard all students that are in their care during the class day. A school is duty-bound to provide a secure environment and appropriate adult supervision and safety. Most schools do this every day and do it very well. In spite of all of this, however, there can arise situations where things can get out of hand and accidents or personal injuries can occur.

Administrative and teaching staff has a moral obligation to look out for the safety and well-being of the students left in their charge in a situation such as this one where a staff member has acted in an inappropriate fashion; parents may seek the advice of a personal injury attorney.  If your child has been involved and injured in an incident at school, give our offices a call as soon as possible. Consulting with a qualified, dedicated and experienced personal injury attorney can make all of the difference in the world.

Many claims against a public school need to be asserted within a 90 day time frame. If you believe that you, or your child has been the victim of sexual harassment, violence, physical or sexual abuse, you need someone on your side that will fight for your rights. Our attorneys will meet with you for a confidential consultation that holds no obligation to you.

We are here to help and we have years of experience in the Texas courts to see that our clients receive just compensation and that those responsible are held accountable. Call for your free consultation.
