A man who was working at Electric Boat’s Quonset Point facility has been killed in an accident.

In a statement released from General Dynamics Electric Boat, the company said that the employee had been fatally injured around 11 a.m. on Monday. They released no details on how the accident happened.

The man was taken to Kent Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. General Dynamics said that the man was employed by a subcontracting firm working for them for the construction of a new manufacturing facility. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of his family.

The company says that they are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are in full cooperation with local, state and federal agencies.

Sean Davies, Quonset Point General Manager, said in a statement that General Dynamics is extremely saddened by the man’s death.
