Drug-Induced Passenger Causes Three-Car Accident
Earlier this week, a three-car automobile accident left four people injured and one man dead after one teenage passenger tried to take control of the vehicle from the driver. It is believed that the passenger was trying to correct the vehicle, as the driver was not in good condition to drive. After initial investigations, it has been determined that drugs, erratic driving, and driving at high speeds were all partly to blame.
Occurring around 10:30 a.m., just a few short days ago, the car to blame, a sedan, was seen rear-ending a Toyota Sienna minivan, causing the minivan to rollover. This sent the sedan speeding head-on into a Toyota Highlander, forcing both vehicles to spin out of control. It is believed that, at the time of the crash, the sedan was going more than 100 mph.
Immediately after the collision, the passenger in the car to blame—a 17-year-old girl from Chelsea whose name has yet to be released—was airlifted to a nearby hospital, believed to be suffering from life-threatening injuries. Two passengers in another car were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, and were declared to be in satisfactory condition. The driver of the third vehicle, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to this accident, the driver had a history of illegal activity—including, but not limited to: four counts of robbery, assault and drug use—landing him in jail for a ten-year period.
