Wife Mourns Hit-and-Run that Killed Her Husband

A Dallas woman is still reeling after husband was killed by a hit and run driver. She is also angry because authorities will not be charging the hit and run driver with anything more than an accident.

Hugo Soria, 33, was killed early Sunday morning as he walked near Masters Drive and Highway 175 in Southeast Dallas.

“My soul mate – he’s gone and not because he got sick. He’s gone because somebody killed him,” said Dara Soria, the victim’s wife. It’s the second time she has had to deal with a death that happened in North Texas.

The Sorias were hit by a car during a 2010 trip to Dallas and Dara lost her unborn son two weeks before giving birth. Visiting the gravesite of their lost baby was the reason for the Sorias’ visit to North Texas.

Dallas police have confirmed that Jose Guerra-Orta, 29, was arrested and charged with an accident involving injury or death.  For Dara Soria, that simply is not enough and wants to see the charges against Guerra-Orta upgraded to see that justice is served.

Unfortunately, hit and run accidents are becoming all too common. A hit and run accident is one of the worst types of accidents that can happen to anyone. Whether it is either indifference or fear that causes a person to run after hitting and injuring another motorist, bicyclist, or pedestrian, it’s a serious crime and a very serious charge when you are finally caught.

If someone is ever involved in a serious accident, sometimes there is a real desire to run. Never be tempted to leave the scene of an accident before the authorities arrive on the scene. The best course of action if someone is ever involved in an accident, and there are personal injuries, or the tragedy of a fatality, is to immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close to it as they can possibly manage to do safely.
