Driver Flees Crash That Killed Passenger

Most drivers are responsible and take adequate precautions to keep themselves and others safe. Most also k that if they are ever in an accident, they should stay at the scene until help and law enforcement arrives. This is especially true in accidents where someone has been seriously hurt or worse. Most would find it unconscionable that someone would flee the scene of an accident, leaving another person behind who was seriously injured or even killed.

Unfortunately, however, that seems to be what happened in early on Saturday morning in Dallas. Investigators with the Dallas Police Department said in a statement that officers were called to the scene near White Rock Creek in the 5200 block of Military Parkway and Parkdale Drive.

Police arrived at the scene where the driver of a 2003 Gray Honda Accord had slid into a fence. Investigators say that it appears that the driver of the vehicle after it overcorrected and struck the fence.

Police have identified Michael Perez, 24, as having been a passenger in the vehicle. In spite of attempts by emergency crews to revive him, Perez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police indicate that the driver fled the scene immediately after the fatal crash. Authorities have not yet released any information about the identity of the driver.
